Black Metal Buffet Cabinet SC-1017 — Tempered Glass Storage for Cafes and Office Pantries

Dining Room & GallerySep 1, 2026Ivy Zhang, Luoyang Hengna Factory Team

Open shelving in a cafe looks great on day one. By month three, it is sticky from coffee splashes, dusty behind the sugar jars, and sagging under the weight of a commercial grinder. Wooden cabinets fare worse in food-service environments — they swell near steam, scratch during restock, and hold onto odors no amount of wiping removes.

The SC-1017 is our answer to that problem. It is a black metal buffet cabinet built around a cold-rolled steel frame and 3C certified tempered glass, designed for cafes, office pantries, and boutique retail where appearance matters as much as durability. This page covers the specs, where it works best, and what wholesale buyers should confirm before ordering.

The 1017mm height is not random. That is the ergonomic sweet spot for a countertop appliance — toaster, coffee brewer, espresso machine — with storage below. Put it against a wall and the top surface becomes a working station without bending.

Why steel beats wood in food-service environments

Most buffet cabinets sold into cafes and pantries are MDF or plywood with a veneer finish. They look identical to steel on a product page and fail differently in the field:

FactorMDF / PlywoodCold-Rolled Steel (SC-1017)
Moisture resistanceSwells and delaminates near steamNo effect — steel does not absorb moisture
Odor retentionAbsorbs food and cleaning chemical smellsNon-porous surface, wipe clean
Load capacityShelves bow under heavy appliances over timeRigid steel shelves hold commercial equipment
FormaldehydePresent in most adhesivesZero — no MDF, no plywood, no adhesive
Lifespan3-5 years in commercial use10+ years with daily cleaning

The formaldehyde point matters more than buyers expect. Food-service inspectors in some markets check for it, and employees notice the smell difference on day one. Steel eliminates that conversation entirely.

There is a cost angle too. Steel cabinets cost 10–20% more upfront than MDF equivalents, but the payback period is under two years in commercial use. MDF cabinets in a busy cafe need replacing every three to four years; steel lasts ten or more. Multiply that across a chain of twenty locations and the math is obvious.

Where this cabinet gets used

Coffee shops and cafes. The arched glass doors display retail beans, mugs, and branded merchandise while keeping dust out. The top surface at 1017mm takes a commercial brewer or grinder without blocking the view behind. For a longer look at cafe display setups, see our reeded glass cabinet guide.

Office breakrooms and pantries. Open shelving turns into a mess within weeks. The SC-1017 keeps snacks, supplies, and tableware organized behind closed doors. The vintage black finish hides fingerprints and wipes down with whatever the cleaning crew already uses.

Boutique retail. Perfumes, leather goods, and small electronics display well behind tempered glass. The arched door design reads more curated than a standard flat-front cabinet, which matters in stores where the furniture is part of the brand story.

Hotel lobbies and minibar stations. The 350mm depth fits narrow spaces behind reception desks or in hallway alcoves. Steel construction handles the humidity from ice machines and coffee stations that would warp wooden alternatives within a year.

Co-working spaces. Shared kitchens see more abuse than private ones — dozens of people using the same cabinets daily, spilling coffee, slamming doors. The SC-1017 takes that abuse because the powder coating does not chip the way veneer does, and the magnetic catch doors close properly even after thousands of cycles.

Ordering and shipping

Sample first — one unit, any configuration. Test the glass, coating, and hinge cycle yourself before committing volume. Sample cost comes off the container order.

The SC-1017 ships knock-down. Panels flat-packed, glass crated separately. A 40HQ container takes roughly 120–150 units depending on shelf configuration, and KD packing cuts freight per unit by 30–40% against assembled shipping.

Lock customization at order confirmation: shelf lighting, glass tint, frame color. Mid-production changes reset the lead time. Standard vintage black ships in 15–20 days after deposit; custom colors run 25–30. Every order goes out with QC photos of the batch before the container seals.

Payment runs 30% deposit, balance against the copy of the bill of lading. Export docs come standard: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and the CE file. If your forwarder needs specific marks or labelling on the crates, tell us at order confirmation — re-labelling after packing is possible but slow.

Buying mistakes we see often

Ordering MDF cabinets for steam-heavy environments. They look fine on arrival and swell within months. If the space has a coffee machine, dishwasher, or ice maker, steel is the only material that lasts.

Skipping the anti-tip plan. The SC-1017 is 25 kg — lighter than a loaded wooden cabinet but still a hazard if a child pulls on an open door. Wall brackets cost almost nothing at quotation time.

Not checking glass certification. Tempered glass that is not 3C certified may shatter into shards instead of granules. Ask any supplier for the certificate before comparing quotes.

Inside the production line

SC-1017 frames are laser-cut, bent, and welded in jigs. That is why door gaps stay even across a batch — the alignment in unit one is the alignment in unit one hundred. Powder coating goes on electrostatically and cures at temperature, which is what lets us back the finish in humid coastal climates. Glass comes with 3C certification paperwork in the export file. Nine years of export manufacturing run through that process, and every wholesale order ships with CE documentation included.

Common questions

What is the MOQ? One piece for sampling. Volume pricing starts at 10 units, container rates at 50+. Sample cost is credited against the first container.

Can I order a different color? White, Sakura Pink, and Bean Green are in current production. Custom RAL/Pantone matches run from one container up.

Is LED lighting included? Base units ship without it. The internal structure has channels for LED strips — specify at order confirmation so wiring is cut during production.

How is it packed? Knock-down flat packing with foam interlayers; glass crated separately with corner protection. Shipping to JP, KR, AU, and EU ports is routine.

What about lead time? 15–20 days for standard vintage black after deposit. Custom colors and lighting: 25–30 days.

Can I mix models in one container? Yes. Bookcases, sideboards, and display cabinets from the same production line load alongside SC-1017 units in a mixed container. Tell us the model list early so the packing plan stacks the heavy panels at the bottom.

What happens if a glass panel arrives broken? Photograph the crate and the panel, note it on the delivery receipt, and send the photos with the packing record. Replacement panels ship with your next order or by courier for urgent needs.
